Buffy is sitting in the cemetary waiting for a vampire to rise.  Suddenly Angel shows up, startling her.  He asks if she's alone, or with she's with someone...like Xander maybe.  (A NOT so subtle inquiry as to if Buffy has feelings for Xander)  Buffy figures out he's jealous, and he denies it.  They argue about it, and the vamp rises and starts fighting them.  After the vamp has been slain, Buffy continues the discussion, but Angel starts to walk away.  Following him, Buffy falls into another open grave..only this one looks like somone was dragged from it.

The next day at school, Buffy and Xander walk in on Giles proposing a date to an empty chair in the library.  They figure out he's trying to work up the nerve to ask Miss Calendar out.  They give him some pointers.  Then Buffy tells Giles about the missing body.  Elswhere, two guys named Chris and Eric are snapping pictures of girls, for some reason.  Chris is really smart, and seems like a nice guy.  Eric appears to be really obnoxious, and he mentions to Chris that Cordelia would be perfect for their project...Chris says "Don't be ridiculous, she's alive."  In the library, Cordelia comes to Willow for help on her science fair project while Will's looking for the girl whose body was stolen.  They find out that two other girls were killed in the same car crash that killed the missing one.  That night, they decide to go to the cemetary to find that the other two girls are missing too.  Buffy also finds out from Willow that Cordelia once dated Chris's brother Daryl, who died recently.

In the school parking lot, Cordelia thinks she is being followed.  She runs and hides in a dumpster, where Angel finds her.  He says he was looking for Buffy...who had told him she was taking the night off.  Cordelia finds some body parts in the dumpster and freaks out.  The gang arrives back in the library to find Angel and Cordelia waiting.  Angel confronts Buffy about why she lied...and they fill Angel in on the grave robbing.  Angel tells the about the parts in the dumpster.  They figure out that not all of the parts were thrown away...and Angel says it looked like the bodies had been cut up by someone who knew what they were doing.  They figure it must be a student, because the bodies were dumped so close to the school, and Willow says she knows five or six guys in the science club who could do it...including her.  Cordelia choses that moment to ask Angel to take her home...Angel and Buffy share a glance where Buffy is incredulous, and Angel isn't quite sure what to do, but goes when Cordelia tugs on his arm.

At Chris's house, we see that his home life leaves something to be desired...his mom is practically a vegetable, and does nothing but watch taped football games starring her dead son Daryl.  Back in the Library, the gang is searching the lockers of the students Willow said would know how to surgically cut people up.  In Chris's locker they find a copy of Gray's Anatomy, and the paper with the announcement of the dead girls.  In Eric's they find the picture of a woman compiled of numerous photographs.  Cut to a lab, where Chris is attending a body under sheet, and Eric is hanging up pictures of Buffy and Cordelia and Willow.

At school the next day, Buffy tries to get Giles to ask Miss Calendar out.  He finally is about to work up the courage, when she takes the initiative and tells him to pick her up that night so they can go to the game that night.  Back in the library, the gang tries to figure out what the guys want with a reanimated dead body.  They figure out that Chris and Eric have got all of the parts they need except a head....and deduce that they would need a recently dead one, to avoid neural decay and so forth.  Cut to Chris's lab, where Eric is trying to convince Chris that they can just kill a girl and take her head.  Chris doesn't want to, but his re-animated brother Daryl comes out from behind a curtain and pleads with him...not wanting to be alone anymore.  Apparently, Chris had had a fit of genius when his brother Daryl died, and was able to re-animate his body.  And he has been working on a "girlfriend" for him.  Chris finally gives in, and Daryl selects Cordelia.

Buffy goes to Chris's house to confront him, and discovers his lab in the basement.  She finds the pictures, and the cut out one of Cordelia's head.  Daryl watches her from the shadows.  At school, Cordelia is preparing to do the cheerleading thing.  Chris shows up in the locker room, and Eric bags her from behind.  Buffy arrives just in time, and kicks Eric....who goes running.  Chris is still there, and Buffy tries to talk him out of what he's doing.  While talking to him, she realizes that he's already done this with his brother.  Meanwhile, Eric has gone to Daryl and told him that Chris has backed out.  They head to the game to abduct Cordelia.

At the game, Xander and Willow bust up Giles's date with Jenny by sitting with them.  Daryl is under the bleachers, and looks out at the ongoing football game with longing.  When Cordelia gets close enough, he grabs her; her screams are masked by the cheering of the crowd.  They take her to the laboratory where the rest of the body is.  Buffy heads there, while Chris tells the others what's happening.

Buffy arrives at the lab and fights with Daryl.  One of them accidentally knocks over a can of gasoline, and of course a fire gets started.  Xander arrives and wheels Cordelia out on the gurney she's strapped to.  Willow and Giles drag an  unconscious Eric out of the building.  Daryl is about to smash Buffy, but Chris shows up and he doesn't.  He drops the desk he was about to hit her with, and runs over the the body, which is surrounded by flames.  Not wanting to live alone, Daryl dies in the fire.

Afterward, Giles catches on that Jenny wants a second date...and Buffy and Angel take a walk through the cemetary.  Angel admits that he IS a little jealous of Xander...Buffy says she doesn't love Xander, but Angel says that he gets to be in her life..he gets to see her in the sunlight.  It's close to morning, so Buffy walks Angel home.

Flaws:

Two of 'em.  Firstly, in the beginning when Buffy and Angel are having their argument....Angel walks away from Buffy, and she follows him.  She falls into an open grave face first...landing with her head facing the direction she had been walking.  She turns over and Angel peers down at her from above....down by her feet.

Secondly, when Giles is trying to ask Jenny out, he calls her "Miss Calendar"...she responds with "Oh, please call me Jenny...Miss Calendar's my father."   What?!

Thoughts on the Episode:

Not much. No backstory, nothing to hash out.  Pretty straight forward "filler" episode.

Best Line:          Ah, I've got two of them.

Xander:  "And speaking of Love..."
Willow:  "We were talking about the reanimation of dead flesh!"
Xander:  "Hey, do I deconstruct your segues?  Nyaaah!"

Giles:  "Grave robbing..that's new..interesting."
Buffy:  "I KNOW you meant to say gross and disturbing."
Giles, contrite:  "Yes, yes of course.  Terrible thing...must put a stop to it...Dammit."
